On July 4, 2025, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an active vehicle pursuit initiated in Hampton County by the Yemassee Police Department involving a stolen vehicle.

Jasper County deputies joined the pursuit on I-95 around exit 22 and continued assisting until exit 18, where the suspect, Gregory Lamar Fort, was taken into custody.

During the pursuit, Fort intentionally rammed multiple law enforcement vehicles, placing officers and the public at serious risk.

Fort is now facing several charges, including:

• Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature (×2)
• Property Damage (×2)
• Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
• Along with additional charges from the Yemassee Police Department.

We commend the coordinated efforts of Yemassee PD and our deputies for safely bringing this dangerous situation to an end.
