JCSO 100 Day Update:
Just over 100 days into Sheriff Chris Malphrus’ administration, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is proud to share the strides made under his leadership. Sheriff Malphrus ran on a platform focused on tackling the county’s drug problem, proactive policing to reduce crime, and building stronger community relationships. Since taking office, the JCSO has grown its team by nearly 35%, increasing from 55 to 74 members. More deputies on the roads means more visibility and deterrence.
In that time, the agency has responded to over 7,000 calls for service, conducted 2,500+ traffic stops, issued over 1,200 citations, and filed 250+ criminal charges—including a 45% increase in drug-related arrests compared to this time last year.
“We’ve made strong progress in a short amount of time, but this is just the beginning,” said Sheriff Chris Malphrus. “Our focus remains on protecting our communities, being present and proactive, and building real trust with the people we serve. I’m proud of the work our team has done, and I’m even more excited about what’s ahead for Jasper County.”
The Sheriff’s Office has also been actively engaging with the community, participating in events like the Jasper County Parks & Recreation Say No to Drugs Egg Hunt and the Jasper County Fire-Rescue Prom Promise DUI Reenactment. In addition, a full overhaul of the JCSO website is underway, along with the development of a new mobile app featuring an anonymous tip line. Both will serve as vital tools for communication and transparency—stay tuned for their launch in the coming weeks!
