The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is proud to welcome our newest K-9, Murphy!
Murphy’s story is nothing short of incredible. Once abandoned and near death in Greenville County, this six-month-old Shepherd was found emaciated and unable to eat or drink without vomiting blood. He was taken to Greenville County Animal Care Services, where it became clear he wouldn’t survive without immediate help. That’s when Noah’s Arks Rescue stepped in. They rushed him to Charleston Veterinary Referral Center, where he was treated for severe dehydration, a high fever, and a stomach full of parasites. Murphy spent days in critical care with IVs, a feeding tube, and constant medical supervision. Against all odds, he pulled through thanks to the tireless work of the rescue and veterinary teams.
After months of recovery and care between Noah’s Arks Rescue and CVRC, Murphy regained his strength, and his spark. When he was finally well enough, Noah’s Arks reached out to the Sheriff’s Office with the idea of giving Murphy a new mission in life.
Now, Murphy serves as JCSO’s Community Resource K-9, working alongside Sgt. Messer. He’ll visit schools, senior centers, and community events, while also offering emotional support in times of crisis. Murphy’s transformation from a neglected pup to a working partner is a powerful story of hope, healing, and second chances. Welcome to the team, K-9 Murphy!
