Lance Corporal Jenn Welsh – Department Spotlight – January 17, 2022

We would like to introduce Lance Corporal Jenn Welsh!
LC Welsh is originally from New Jersey but has been in our area just over 14 years. Her parents made the move down here for retirement and loved the area. LC Welsh went to college and received her Criminal Justice Degree before starting dispatch up in NJ. She always wanted to be a police officer, but job openings were limited in that area. She soon expanded her search down to South Carolina where she worked with Beaufort County Sheriff’s office for 12 years.
LC Welsh said “Every person in my family, one way or another, has been hit or affected by a drunk driver, including myself, so I wanted to help put a stop to drunk driving the best way I could. That is where my passion comes from with Law Enforcement.”
After leaving BCSO she took a position in Colleton County for a short time before finding Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. “Jasper County has big goals and aspirations for a department. Opportunities are endless here and I like being apart of a team that is here to make good things happen for their community.”
When we asked LC Welsh to offer advise, or words of wisdom to the younger generation of Jasper County she said “Formulate your own opinions and don’t let anyone make you doubt yourself or say you can’t accomplish something.”
Please join us in saying Thank You to Lance Corporal Welsh for all that she does for Jasper County and please stay safe out there!
